It is with deep love and sorrow that we share the passing of Zane Phillips, age 24, on March 4, 2025 surrounded by those who cherished him most.
Zane brought a light into the world that words could never fully capture. Though nonverbal, he communicated profoundly through his goofiness, sweet kisses for his mom and his joyful, peaceful presence on a car ride, touching the hearts of everyone lucky enough to know him.
Born in Joplin, Missouri. Zane spent his life sharing joy in ways all his own. He loved long car rides with the windows down, listening to his favorite music clips at full volume on repeat and swinging in the giant tree swing. He found comfort in shredding paper, which later became his first job at Johnson County Developmental Support.
Zane taught those of us around him the true meaning of steadfastness, wonder and true contentedness. His life was a gift, and his legacy will continue in the hearts and memories of those of us who loved him deeply. We will remember him when we feel the wind on our face in the car and take a sip of a cool, crisp Dr. Pepper, his favorite drink.
Zane is survived by his mother, Barbara Johnson Holliman. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as friends and caregivers who will forever treasure the time they had together.
A celebration of life will be held on March 19, 2025 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 21650 W 115th Terrace, Olathe, KS at 10:00AM, where we will honor Zane and the beautiful impact he made on all of us.
Rest gently, Zane. You were and always will be so deeply loved and your absence in this world will be greatly felt.
