Ying Her was born July 3, 1975, in Na Kuan village, Vientiane province, Laos. His grandfather (Nou Yee
Her), grandmother (Ai Kong), and his parents, Chia Chue Her (father), and Mee Vang (mother, daughter
to Chou Kao Vang and Nou Her), along with 4 other siblings to escape the communist war in Laos in the
late 1975. Soon after, Ying’s father takes the family into refugee camp in Thailand. In 1979, Ying’s father
immigrated the family to the United States and settled in San Diego, CA as their new home to start
fresh.
Ying has 5 brothers (Txooj Kao Her, Soob Thai Her, Chou Her, Sue Her, and James Her), and 3 sisters
(Phoua Her, Lea Her, and Xay Her), a total of 8 siblings. Ying is an uncle to 15 nephews and 11 nieces and
grandpa to 17 grandkids. As the family settles in San Diego, CA, they join the San Diego Hmong Alliance
Church for support and dedicate their beliefs to Jesus Christ. Summer of 1996, the family relocate to
Kansas City, KS, here, they join the First Hmong Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
November 21, 2002, Ying marries his wife, Nancy Vang (daughter to Nhia Chong Vang (father-in-law) and
La Yang (mother-in-law). Summer of 2006, Ying and Nancy have their first-born son, Cayden Lue Her and
soon after in 2008, they have their second born son, Mason Chang Seng Her. Ying enjoys watching
football and loves rooting for his LA Rams. Ying loves listening to 80’s and 90’s music that he grew up
listening to in San Diego. His calm, shyness, and quietness are the highlights of his personality, and when
he does engage conversations, his, “Funny Man,” exposes his humor and laughter that lights up the
room.
In 2013, Ying suffers a minor stroke, which lead to his diabetes taking a turn on his health over the years.
In early 2023, Ying battles his illness and other multiple complications of his health. December 14, 2023,
Ying joins Gods in his kingdom, free of suffering and pain.
He will be truly missed as a husband, father, brother, and uncle. We will always love and cherish you in
our hearts forever! May you be at peace and reunited with the other loved ones. Until we meet again,
may you continue to watch over us, as we keep you in our memories. IT’S NEVER GOODBYE!
Funeral services will be held at Olathe Christian Church, 1115 S Ridgeview Rd., Olathe, KS 66062.
