William Randolph “Randy” VanSlyke, 62, of Gardner, Kansasfinished his life’s race on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. He was born on August 14, 1961, toWilliam VanSlyke and Stella Levy in Seattle, Washington. Randy grew up in Seattle then went to work in the ship yards at sixteen years of age.

In his early twenties, he moved to San Francisco and began his career in the alarm business. At age 26, he welcomed his firstborn and namesake Randy, aka Little Randy.

Randy moved back to Seattle and began working for Global Security. Global had an office in Shawnee, Kansas where he met Nikke in 1999. They were married in June of 2001 and later welcomed two daughters, Danielle in 2006, and Natalie in 2012.

Through the friendship and influence of a Christian friend named Andre, Randy recognized his need for a Savior. In May of 2001, Randy gave his heart and life to Christ. Together Randy and Nikke began attending Olathe View Baptist Church in 2002. Randyserved in the music ministry, helped with many remodeling projects, served faithfully in the audio/visual department, and of course, smoked his famous meats for many a churchevent.

Randy was a hard-working, consistent, jack-of-all-trades kind of guy. He began his own home security business, Pro Technology Solutions, in 2008. As a side hobby, he loved doing competition BBQ and achieved many awards for his mouth-wateringsmoked meats. His most loved and awarded meat was smoked ribs.

He passed on his love of hard work, guns, and BBQ to his son, Randy. His daughter, Danielle, enjoyed sushi and crab legs dates with her dad. Natalie shared her dad’s love of building things which began with Legos and ended with building a personally designedgreenhouse for his wife, Nikke. He had a love for music, which was passed from his mom, an accomplished pianist, and then on to his two girls. Randy loved to hear them play.

Randy is survived by his loving wife, Nikke, son Randy (Kacey), daughters Danielle and Natalie, grandchildren Olivia, Jaxon, and Hayes, brother David (Paulette) Levy, also aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers in law, and sisters in law.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William VanSlyke and Stella Levy.
