William Lee (Bill) Bauman died peacefully in his sleep of natural causes at home in Lawrence, KS, on June 27, 2023, at the age of 73. He was born in Axtell, KS to Noah and Patricia Bauman. The family lived in Seneca until Bill was nine, when they moved to Topeka. He graduated from Seaman High School.
Bill was a Vietnam veteran, and proud of his military service. He was a talented carpenter, loved the outdoors and could tell a story for any audience. He loved life, proving people wrong, standing up for what he believed in, and had strength in his convictions. Despite his earthly struggles, he was always a survivor. On his best days, he would don his leather and ride his Harley through the countryside.
Bill is survived by his sister, Mary Bauman Marek of South Dakota, his former wife and mother of his children, Roma Zachary of Salina, KS, daughters Barbara Bauman of Salina, KS and Belinda Vaughn-Bauman of Covington, LA, and grandchildren Cade Smith, Kassidy Bauman, Matiana Garay, and Angelito Garay. He is preceded in death by his brother. Bobby, and his son, Eric.
