Sylvia Lynn (Moyer) Anderson went to be with Jesus on Sunday morning, July 30th , 2023, at Saint Luke’s
Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas. She and her husband, Virgil
Dean Anderson, celebrated 61 years of marriage together in October, 2021, just weeks before he passed away.
As a teenager, Sylvia was heavily involved with Youth for Christ organization and participated often in
their Bible quizzing program. Sylvia attended Moody Bible Institute and worked for several years at
Proctor and Gamble. She was a licensed minister who also played piano at her church for over 20 years.
Sylvia served as Director of Christian Education at Evangelistic Center Church (ECC) for over 20 years
before working at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa, where she was an administrative assistant for over 20 years.
Sylvia’s greatest passion was sharing her love of Jesus with children. When her own children were
young, she organized Backyard Bible Clubs to share the Good News of Christ with the neighborhood
kids. She regularly spoke at the ECC youth camps to bring daily devotions to the youngest campers,
often focusing on missionary stories and the great leaders of the faith. She even found the time to speak
at several Women’s Aglow meetings and served for many years as a chaplain at Overland Park Regional
Medical Center. Sylvia never lost her love of learning about Jesus and continued to take online courses
through Dallas Theological Seminary all the way up until her surgery for pancreatic cancer in July of this year.
