Phyllis Mae Karpierz, age 98, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, July 2, 2024. Born May 1, 1926, she was the daughter of Leon Fief and Amelia Cyre, who both established her tremendous work ethic and religious foundations. Known by ‘Mame’ to many, Phyllis enjoyed her family, travel, and most of all, Jesus. Phyllis will be remembered for her strong faith, frugal nature, ‘on the go’ drive, three-mile daily walks, hats to match every outfit, love of helping others, phenomenal cooking, and guidance of future generations.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, daughter Theresa Waterman, and grandson Kris Venard. Her survivors include her children Carol Birkey, Elaine Venard, and Vincent Karpierz; nieces and nephews, her grandchildren Phillip Birkey, Cheryl Birkey, Beth Lloyd (Bryan), and Lacey Waterman; and her great grandchildren Aubrie, Avyn, Xander, Hazel, and Noah.
Her most famous quote that will live forever through those who know and love her are, “Your health is your wealth.” May we all use this inspiration to guide us through difficult times and bethankful for our health, both mental and physical. Phyllis Mae Karpierz enjoyed life to the fullest for nearly 100 years, and her role as ‘Mame’ brought her the most joy.
Although she will be deeply missed, we rest assured knowing that she has found a new home in Heaven, free of struggles and with her family members that have already passed. A private celebration of life will be held with the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a private donation for the wonderful caretakers at the long-term facility, who assisted her in the most difficult of times.
