Melanie Carole Hare, Leavenworth, KS passed away January 4, 2023. Melanie, 53, was born to Kenneth Edward Hare Jr & Carolyn Brantley Hare in Goldsboro, NC at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Melanie leaves behind to mourn her loss, her mother, Carolyn of Leavenworth; her son Keith Hare & grandson Kurtis of Lawrence; her son Jeremy Hozian (Erika Galvan) of Topeka, niece Allison Hare (Jesse Jones) & great nephew Parker, Leavenworth. Also, her father, Kenneth Edward Hare Jr (Marie) & half-sister, Ashley Hare. of North Carolina. Many family Members: Aunts Mary Outland, Garland, TX; Ellen Sparks (Tom), Lansing, KS; Uncle Elvin Brantley (Ginny) of Pennsylvania, Aunt Kay Dougherty & Uncle Tommy Hare of North Carolina and over 50 cousins.
Melanie was preceded in death: by her brother, Marc Paul Hare, in 2019; maternal grandparents Woodrow & Margaret Brantley; paternal grandparents Kenneth Edward Sr & Iris Ann Hare; aunts & uncles Joyce (Ron) Humphrey; Donna Rachel Canny & Wayne Outland. Also preceding her is her ex-husband, Matthew Hozian.
Melanie was baptized at Saulston Methodist Church. She was involved in an accident as a baby that compromised her abilities on her right side throughout her life. Despite the challenges presented, Melanie was a loyal, hard-working woman. She held many jobs in the food service industry as manager & assistant manager for Burger King, McDonald’s and others, front desk clerk for hotels, and several photography positions. Melanie & Matthew also owned & operated their own business in Alabama, getting homes ready for the parade of homes. Photography & Poetry were her passions. She was also a loyal Christ follower. Melanie was a published poet, often using words to describe her feeling & helping others. She loved music, art, & journaling. She was dedicated to serving, all her life. Melanie was able to adapt to different situations, loved interacting with others and engaging in group events. She felt her best when she was able to be honest and have open communication & had great tenacity. She adored her family, especially her sons, grandson, niece, & great-nephew.
Melanie was a resident of Leavenworth, KS for most of her life, also living in Alabama, North Carolina, and Lawrence, KS. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
