Mao Her Yang

Our dear mother, Mao Yang passed away peacefully at her home in Olathe, Kansas on July 9th, 2024 at the age of 78. 

She was born to the late Yia Her and Xai Yang on July 18, 1945 in Xieng Khouang Province, Laos. She married her beloved late husband Chong Her Yang in May 1961. Mao came to the United States with her husband in December 1980 and eventually settled in Olathe, Kansas. 

She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her most, offering support and love in abundance. She was a quiet and humble woman but was a strong believer of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Mao enjoyed gardening and fishing, cross stitching, and embroidery. She thoroughly shared her gifts with her family and friends. 

Mao is survived by her five sons, Toua (Chue), Xao (Sumaly), Fue (Xai), Mike (Sarad), True (Pang) and two daughters, Nou (Lue) and Tang. She leaves behind two sisters, Doua Her and Chu Her and brother Ze Her, 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mao is preceded in death by her parents Yia Her and Xai Yang, her brothers Toua and Leng, her beloved husband Chong Her Yang and one infant sister.

Funeral services will be held on August 3rd, 2024 at Olathe Christian Church, 1115 S Ridgeview Olathe, Kansas. Morning service begins at 10 AM -12 PM, Lunch following at First Hmong C&MA Church, 900 S Honeysuckle Dr. Olathe, Kansas. Services resumes at 2:00 PM-3:30 PM, Friends and Family time. Evening Services begins at 4:00-6:00pm. Dinner following at First Hmong C&MA Church. 

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, August 5th, 2024 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N 94th St. Kansas City, KS 66112 at 10:00 AM.
