Lucita Perez, 98, of Kansas City, KS, passed away on March 19, 2025. She was born January 7, 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas to Jesus and Aurelia (Cervantes) Abarca.Lucita worked as a talented seamstress for many years in the Kansas City area. After her husband retired, they opened St. Jude's Mexican restaurant on Southwest Boulevard. Her most cherished moments were being a homemaker and taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After her grandchildren started grade school, she volunteered at Perez Food Products.
Lucita is preceded in death by her husband, Peter Perez Sr, her parents, and her siblings, Manuel Abarca Sr., Selso Abarca Sr., Anita Abarca, Jesusita Abarca, and Eliseo Abarca. She is survived by her children: Peter Perez Jr. (Rachel), Anthony Perez Sr. (Teresa), and Robert Perez Sr. (Monica). She was also a proud grandmother to 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Lucita is also survived by her brother Rafael Abarca.
Lucita was a devoted Catholic and worshiped at St. Agnes Parish. A rosary will be held at 8:45 am on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, followed by visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 and a Catholic Mass at 11:00 am. Lucita will be laid to rest with her husband at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery following the mass.
