He then attended Rockhurst College in 1951-52 before entering the Society of Jesus in 1952 at St. Stanislaus Seminary in Florissant, MO. He returned to Rockhurst College in 1954 and graduated in 1957. He worked in the legal field throughout his life. He practiced law until the end of his life. Throughout his life he fought sever bouts of debilitating depression, the negative effects of which on many of his personal and professional relationships he deeply regretted. His hope was that those similarly challenged would seek professional treatment. Which he did not, for reasons he at the time thought valid, but later in life questioned.
