Jeffrey M. Hall, 71, died on October 12, 2024 at Midland Care Hospice in Topeka, KS after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Hubert H. Hall and his wife Patricia of Lincoln, NE.
Jeff was born in 1953 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the second oldest of four siblings. He graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1972.
Jeff had three abiding passions in life; God, his family, and football, the Huskers and the Chiefs.
A long and persistent search for God brought him to the Catholic Church in 1993.
Jeff was a loving husband to his wife Merinda Richards, the adoring companion of the last fifteen years of his life, with whom he shared many happy hours sipping Starbucks coffee. To his beloved daughters Sr. Mary Delight of the Holy Trinity and Elisabeth he was a proud and devoted father, famous for his attention to detail, his giant-sized chocolate chip pancakes, and countless hours at the library dedicated to homework supervision. Whenever there was a letter to be written, he was there with his ruler. To his siblings Marty, Kathy, and Dave, Jeff was a selfless and dependable support in time of need. During her battle with cancer, Jeff became a stem cell donor for his sister, Marty. To his sister Kathy, he was a teddybear of a big brother, always thoughtful and caring. To his brother Dave, Jeff will always be remembered for love for Jesus and his childhood pranks, especially the time Jeff shut him in the freezerin order to discover whether the light goes off when the freezer is shut and then being told yes, shut him in again just to make sure. To his many nieces and nephews Uncle Jeff was a man of loving warmth and great humor. And for his grandson Jason, Grandpa was his world, his playmate at the park and in hours spent exploring the Washburn Auto Shop, giver of cuddles and proud supporter of his many budding talents.
Jeff was a diehard Huskers fan, a legacy he received from his father and which he shared with his whole family and especially with his son-in-law Eric. Even in his last days Jeff was cheering for the Huskers from his hospital bed.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Merinda Richards of Topeka, KS; his two daughters: Sr. Mary Delight of the Holy Trinity (Anna) Hall SSVM of Hafnarfjordur, Iceland, and Elisabeth Swafford and her husband, Eric of Wichita, KS; his grandson, Jason; his stepsons: Eric Richards and his wife Nicole of Norco, CA, and Ryan Richards of Topeka, KS. He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen Asboe and her husband, Eric of Lincoln, NE; his brother, David Hall and his wife, Michelle of Estes Park, CO; his former wife, Renee Hall; and his many nieces and nephews.
