James (Jim) R Miller, 69, of Overland Park KS passed away February 5 2023. Jim was born May 21 1953 in Kansas City MO to John L Miller Sr. and Katherine M (Kneaves, Miller) Shepherd. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Joe Miller and Mike Miller. Jim is survived by his siblings John Miller Jr (Kathy), Bob Miller (Peggy), Steve Miller (Susie) and sister in law Angie Miller. In addition to his siblings Jim is also survived by cousins and his aunts and uncles Sister Kieran Kneaves, Frank Kneaves (Ginny), Ed Kneaves and Jim Zubeck as well as nieces and nephews Emily Meyer (Mike), Blake Miller, Bret Miller (Tasha), Katie Jackson (Stephen), Maggie Brinkmeyer (Scott), John Miller III (Makenzie), Morgan Miller-Rodriguez (Calix), Bobby Miller, Jr. and Erin Miller; and 4 great-nieces and nephews, Cadence Meyer, Riley Sue Miller, Ryder Miller and Cooper Rodriguez.
Jim was a man of faith. Even when he was no longer able to drive he still received Communion on a regular basis and participated in Mass services on line every Sunday.
Jim worked at multiple jobs throughout his life including as a courier driver, copy repairman and painter
Jim was a quiet man who valued his family and sports. Jim always wanted to know what was going on with the family and quietly enjoyed the time spent at family gatherings. Jim was a diehard KC Royals fan and watched them through the highs and lows. He also had an undying loyalty to the KC (Super Bowl Champions) Chiefs and KU Basketball.
A special thank you to the staff of Ascension Living – St. Joseph Place. The wonderful care provided to Jim was appreciated by Jim and his family. Jim considered the staff as his friends. Also thanks to Interim Healthcare for the care they provided Jim in his last days.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Ascension Living – St. Joseph Place, 11901 Rosewood, Overland Park KS 66209 on Monday March 13 2023 at 11:00 AM. Besides parking in front there is also parking in back of the building. The Chapel is just inside the main entrance.
A mask is required in common areas and the chapel in order to protect the residents of the home.
