Ivaline Georgia Gieri 78 passed away Friday, April 12,2024 surrounded by her loving family at Overland Park Regional in Overland Park, Ks. She was born January 14,1946 to Felix L. Gomez and Marjorie V. Smith in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the eldest of eight children.
She remained in Kansas City, Mo. until she met the love of her life Robert (Bob) Laffette Cawthon Staff Sergeant United States Marine Corp when he was stationed here in Kansas City approximately in 1969. it was love at first sight she would always say. They were married in 1970 in dad's hometown of Children’s Home, FL and would move back and forth from Missouri and Florida until his passing in 1984.
She then moved back to Kansas City to be with her family. She was a stay-at-home mother who raised her five children. She enjoyed family get togethers. Holidays, BBQ's, listening to her favorite music (REO and Journey) and dancing. She also loved lying in bed and watching her scary movies at night with all of us but, especially with a few of her granddaughters. She loved going to the Kansas City Royals games and watching the Kansas City Chiefs on the television. She was so full of life and her energy was nonstop.
She was always on the go constantly cleaning her home, her children's and even her grandchildren's when she would come visit. lol Her favorite things in life were spending time with her family siblings, children, grandchildren.
Ivaline was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Cawthon, Her parents Felix L. Gomez and Marjorie V. Smith, Grandparents Elmer & Ethel Smith and brother Michael Watson.
Ivaline is survived by her children Douglas E. Barrett (Pam) of Independence, Mo. Kimberly M. Carver (John) of Crestview, Fl.
Arthur D. Barrett of Kansas City, Mo. Christine L. Bergen (Michael) of Kansas City, Ks. Laurie L. Keating of Kansas City, Mo.
She is survived by her grandchildren Jeremy, Tyler, Ashley, Dakota, Ricky, Michael, Kyle, Amanda, Boston, Kilee, Aniella, Bobby, Misty, Brandy, Jennifer, Chad and Shane. Great - Grandchildren Cooper, Enzo, Kellen, Chase, Tinley, Noxton, Ragen, Nathen, Michael, Kaylynne, Ariel, Carson, Kinsley, Maverick, Dalton, Jasmine, Kaiden, and Scarlett.
She is also survived by her Siblings Judy Spencer, Ray Smith, Patsy Smith, Gary Watson, Randy Gomez, and Felix Watson
Her family and friends gathered on Monday, April 15,2024 for a private celebration of life to honor the Matriarch of our family. She will be sadly missed deeply by all that knew her.
