Elaine Cooper, a cherished mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of Jehovah, passed away on December 4, 2024, at AdventHealth Hospital in Merriam, Kansas. She was 72 years old.
Elaine was born on January 2, 1952, in Lakeview, New York, to Bertha Louise Elrod and Alvin Elrod Sr. She graduated from Malvern High School in 1971, where she excelled in track and field. Elaine went on to study Accounting at York College in Queens, New York.
In 1971, she married the love of her life, Elliott Cooper, and together they built a beautiful family of four children. Elaine's life was profoundly shaped by her faith. On December 21, 1974, while living in the Philippines, she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her dedication to her ministry was one of her greatest joys, culminating in her attendance at Pioneer School in 1994, after which she served as a full-time regular pioneer.
Elaine worked at Jostens in Topeka, Kansas, for many years and retired in 2014. In addition to her professional achievements, she will be remembered for her warmth, devotion to her faith, and the love she showed to her family and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Elliott Cooper; her daughter, Sandria Cooper; her parents, Bertha Louise Elrod and Alvin Elrod Sr.; her brothers, William Elrod (Patricia Elrod) and Alvin L. Elrod Jr.; her grandson, Earon Deayon Cooper (Jesselyn Cooper); and her great-grandchildren, Ma'Leinna Cooper and Dejuan Cooper.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith through her surviving children, Earon Cooper, Elleatra Cooper, and Elon Cooper (Veronica Cooper); her siblings, Mattie Wimbush, Sandra Carlisle (Nathaniel Carlisle), Kenneth Elrod, Carol Thompson (Willie Thompson), Michael Elrod (Donta Elrod), Joseph Elrod, Robert Elrod (Lucretia Elrod), Jonathan Elrod, and Raymond Eric Johnson (Tracee Johnson); her grandchildren, Sean Cooper Sr. (Danielle Marie Rodriguez), Dearion Cooper, Elleasa Taylor, Robert Smith, Maleah Mumford, Elliott Cooper, Eadrian Cooper, Camora Cooper, and Elleana Frazier; her honorary daughter, Shannon Mitchell; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Elaine's memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. CST at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 2701 Croco Road, Topeka, Kansas, 66605.
