Carol Sue Zimmerman Rorick

Carol Sue Zimmerman Rorick, 85, of Shawnee, KS peacefully reposed in the Lord on March 13, 2025 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center after a courageous five year battle with kidney cancer.

Carol was born May 3rd, 1939 in Elizabethtown, KY. She was raised in Cincinnati, graduating from Regina High School. She was proudly one of only two women in the 1962 University of Cincinnati Chemical Engineering graduating class. She married Myron Rorick of Marion, OH in 1962 and they raised four children primarily located in Circleville, OH.

She touched countless lives by sharing her gifts and spending time in the community through roles in American Association of University Women (AAUW), being part of PTA for countless elementary school children, a Volunteer YMCA swim instructor,a fervent Red Cross blood donor, and an Presiding Judge for Primary and General Elections.

Carol was a lifelong learner. In 1989, on her 50th birthday, she passed the final required CPA exam to be licensed as a Certified Public Accountant. She then worked for an accounting firm in Circleville, OH for several years.

An avid volunteer at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Circleville, OH, and Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Shawnee, KS, Carol dedicated much of her time and talents, including being a lector, organist, Eucharistic Minister, RCIA leader, President of the Altar-Rosary Society, as well as being a devotee of daily mass.

In retirement Carol enjoyed several church group international travel excursions including Isreal, Türkiye, Poland, Ireland, Spain, Germany, and Australia. As a spunky companion, she became endeared by her fellow travelers who shared wonderful tales of their adventures.

Carol is survived by her children Ruth (Chris), Carl (Jane), Becky (Jim), and Angela (Jason); grandchildren Troy, Heather, Natalie, Jacob, Jamie, Samantha, Mackenzie, and Isaac; as well as 7 great and 5 great-great grandchildren.
